Synergistic CareerPorts are high school curricula in which
students learn and apply core curriculum content within a possible career
pathway. Each CareerPort is a nine-week, hands-on immersion into a nationally
recognized career cluster area. These self-paced, student-directed curricula are
delivered online, making them accessible to students from anywhere the Internet
is available.
Looking forward, moving ahead
CareerPorts are a virtual internship,
encouraging students to become independent learners while providing them with
real-world career experiences. During this “internship,” students learn and
apply core content knowledge in the context of the CareerPorts’ career area.

Synergistic
Missions/A Division of Pitsco, Inc.
Synergistic Missions is
a Math, Science and Technology program. It is a hands-on/minds-on cooperative
learning system for all students in grades kindergarten through six.

Synergistic
Modules/A Division of Pitsco, Inc. Synergistic Modules
provides middle schools with self-sufficient workstations with students working
in pairs to complete each learning module. Over 80 modules come under the
categories of Technology, Family and Consumer Science, Science, Information
Technology, and Mathematics.
The structured framework enables the instructor to spend more time working with
students.

Synergistic
Suites/A
Division of Pitsco, Inc., creators
of Synergistic Systems, is a new approach to teaching some of the most important
- and most difficult - concepts that high schools are challenged to teach. Each
Suite uses multimedia instructions and theme-based experiences to mix
careers, teamwork, communication, critical thinking, and quality management into
nine weeks of classes.

VX Corporation
is a major 3D drafting/design program. It can be purchased
as an end-to-end solution or just for design, modeling, mold making or CAM.
In a recent presentation to an instructor who teaches or has taught many CAD/CAM
programs, he noted that most of the other programs he taught could do some of
the various design shortcuts as well as VX could. But when comparing the
whole package, VX seemed to do everything well. Some programs could do
some things and some could do other things, but none could do everything unless
you paid at least five times the price. In addition, VX can recognize and
work with .stl files and scanned point cloud images, making VX a great companion
to a hand-held ZScanner or output easily to a ZPrinter (see Z Corporation
below).

Versa Laser
can transform images or drawings on your computer screen into real
items made out of an amazing variety of materials... wood, plastic, fabric,
paper, glass, leather, stone, ceramic, rubber... and it's as easy to use as your
printer.

xlaFORM
(Pronounced: ak-sel-a-Form) is an Automated Infiltration Post-processing
Solution for Z Corporation Prototyping Machines. This allows for complete
resin infusion throughout the part geometry regardless of size. This has
previously been impossible with the widely used room temperature curing products
for infiltration, such as cyanoacrylate and epoxy.

Z
Corporation -
Rapid Prototyping has suddenly become affordable due to MIT and this new and
fast-growing company from Burlington, MA. This company has pioneered a ZPrinter
that actually can make 3D models out of inexpensive materials like plaster and
corn starch. Every CAD lab can now afford to make models as an output from their
modeling software. This makes models in a very short time by printing on layers
of powder. If you design a ball bearing, for instance, you can print it out in
3D and remove it from the excess powder (which is recyclable) and spin the
bearing without any further assembly. The machine can produce both mechanical
and architectural models. Industry is using these printers in state-of-the-art
CAD labs for design, for making plaster molds for plastic prototyping, for molds
for aluminum castings (instead of sand castings), for architectural models to
sell unique designs, and the medical field is using them to rehearse medical
procedures before performing unusual operations. (The recent separation of twins
joined at the head was performed only after CT scans were taken of the bone
structure and models were printed on a Z Corp printer from the scans so the
surgeons could practice on a perfect replica of this one-of-a-kind cranial
orientation.)
Now, also available, is the ZScanner™ 700 - the first
self-positioning, real-time surfacing, 3D Laser Scanner. Scan any object
in the tightest spaces and do it in one continuous scan.
